QUETTA: The caretaker Chief Minister Balochistan, Mir Ali Mardan Khan Domki has stated that the preparations are continued for conducting free, fair and transparent elections in Balochistan.
He said that the special measures are being taken adopted for restoring peace in the most sensitive and sensitive polling stations. The services of Pak army and Frontier Corps (FC) would be taken for security in the sensitive areas of the province.
He said that the CCT cameras would be installed in the very sensitive poling stations of the province.
The Election Commission of Pakistan and Balochistan government would set up control rooms to review the overall situation during the polls.
The Chief Minister assured that the wholehearted cooperation would be extended to the Election Commission for conducting free and fair elections in peaceful environment.
These and similar other views were expressed by the Caretaker Chief Minister while chairing a review meeting on the law and order and preparations for the general elections in the province, here at the CM’s secretariat on Monday.
The provincial ministers, Chief Secretary Shakeel Qadir Khan, Administrative Chief Secretary Home, Zahid Saleem, Inspector General of Police, Abdul Khaliq Sheikh, and other concerned high ups were in attendance at the meeting.
The Divisional commissioners and deputy Commissioners participated in the meeting through video link.
The meeting reviewed the overall law and order situation in the province. The meeting also discussed about the arrangements and preparations made for conduct of the upcoming elections in the province.
The concerned high ups briefed the participants about the proposed strategy for resolving the issues in this regard.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that the joint monitoring rooms would be set up by the deputy commissioners and Election Commission at the district level.
He said that the progress of the situation about conduct of general elections would continue to be taken in the province.
He directed the divisional commissioners to keep sending progress reports about conducting the free and fair elections to the Chief Minister secretariat on regular basis so as to address the related issues establishing conducive environment.
The caretaker Chief Minister said that he would visit all the divisions to personally review the law and order situation and arrangements made for the elections.
Meanwhile, it was informed that a total of 5067 polling stations would be established all over the province.
Out of them, 2055 have been declared most sensitive, 2180 as sensitive and 832 as normal.
The IGP informed that strategy has been prepared for security of the election candidates, and poling staff in the province.
