PPP Slams Govt’s Decision to Shut Down Utility Stores as ‘Cruel’ and ‘Ill-Advised’

ISLAMABAD, AUGUST 29

(Independent Report )
The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has strongly condemned the government’s decision to close down utility stores, calling it “cruel” and “ill-advised”. Shazia Marri, Central Spokesperson for PPP, criticized the move, saying that such decisions should not be taken without thorough consideration, discussion, and understanding of public problems.

Marri argued that utility stores are the only institution providing affordable essential items to the people, especially during times of high inflation. She urged the government to reconsider its decision, citing the stores’ importance in providing relief to the masses.

The PPP spokesperson also highlighted the history of utility stores, established by Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto in 1971 to serve the people’s needs. Marri emphasized that the government should prioritize public service and withdraw its decision to shut down the stores, which are also the only institution providing immediate food supplies during natural disasters.
