Sanghar (Hasnain Ashiq Saand) Hindu trader Chander Kachhi, a banana merchant from Tando Allahyar, was allegedly kidnapped and brutally tortured by police personnel after refusing to pay an extortion demand. According to the complaint, on October 22, Chander was stopped on Nasarpur Road by armed men in civilian clothing while on his way back to his village, Gul Lakhir. The attackers, identified as police personnel, seized his motorcycle, cash totaling Rs. 300,000, six signed checks, and his mobile phone. He was then reportedly blindfolded, bound, and transported to the Jhool police station.
For four days, Chander claims he was held, stripped, and severely beaten, with the assailants demanding Rs. 4 million for his release. After he failed to comply, his condition deteriorated due to continuous abuse. Intervention from former Senator Fida Hussain Dero reportedly led to his release, but instead of being freed, he was transferred to Tando Adam police, who charged him with possessing alcohol and sent him to jail under what he says were false charges.
On his release, Chander, accompanied by All Hindu Kachhi Ittehad leader Dr. Amarshee Kachhi and cousin Prem Kachhi, addressed the media at the Tando Adam Press Club, demanding justice. Chander appealed to the federal and Sindh governments and police authorities, including the Inspector General of Sindh and DIG Shaheed Benazirabad, to investigate the matter. He urged them to recover his motorcycle, cash, checks, and other belongings, and to hold those responsible accountable.
Dr. Amarshee Kachhi condemned the actions of the police, stating that such acts by law enforcement undermine public trust. He demanded swift justice and warned of protests across Sindh and possible legal action if the authorities fail to address the issue.
