Peshawar: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Textbook Board on Brink of Collapse Amid Govt Neglect

Independent Report.

Peshawar, October 8, 2024

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Textbook Board is facing financial ruin due to government indifference, says ANP Provincial Spokesperson Arslan Khan Naim.

Outstanding dues exceed Rs 14 billion, exacerbating the board’s severe financial crisis. Lack of funds has resulted in:

– Most students not receiving new textbooks this year
– Old, used books distributed in government schools
– Proposed reduction in book sizes for next year

Naim criticized the government for prioritizing political interests over institutional stability, warning that failure to clear dues will halt textbook printing entirely.
