• National Tea Day Festival Brings Together Agribusiness Leaders and Private Enterprises at NTHRI, Shinkiari

Islamabad: (PR&P) The commemoration of the National Tea Day Festival took place at the National Tea and High Value Crops Research Institute in Shinkiari, Mansehra. Dr. Ghulam Muhammad Ali, Chairman Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (PARC), graced the occasion as the esteemed chief guest. Addressing to the event, Dr. Ghulam Muhammad Ali, highlighted the pivotal role played by agricultural departments in bolstering the nation’s economy. He further underscored PARC’s leadership in championing the cause of national tea cultivation and urged all the stakeholders to collaborate in realizing this paramount national objective.

Dr. Basharat Hussain Shah, Director NTHRI, warmly welcomed distinguished guests and stakeholders from all over the country. Dr. Imtiaz Hussain, Member Incharge Plant Sciences Division PARC, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the organizers, sponsors, and participants for their invaluable contributions, which ultimately culminated in the success of the event. Mr. Tariq Tanveer, the CEO of Agri Tourism, apprised the attendees of the benefits of indigenous tea cultivation. Representatives from private tea companies such as Unilever, Zaiqa Tea, and Islamabad Tea, Dr. F. S. Hamid, the former director of NTHRI, and other speakers shared their views on the importance of tea cultivation in the country. Dr. Irshad Shah, FAO representative, revealed ongoing efforts to execute a project aimed at promoting tea cultivation in the country.

Following the formal proceedings, the chief guest Chairman PARC and attendees visited various stalls showcasing tea, diverse olive and fruit products, as well as locally crafted embroidery and other items organized by different NGOs. Dr. Ghulam Muhammad Ali commended the organizers for the seamless execution of the event and issued various directives for the improvement of the institute.
