Pakistan’s ongoing political crisis has taken a new turn, with Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, the head of the Awami Pakistan Party, calling for a third-party intervention to resolve the deadlock between the government and the opposition.
Abbasi emphasized that decisions made on the streets will not yield positive results and suggested that bringing 8-10 key stakeholders together could help resolve the crisis. He criticized the government’s handling of the situation, pointing out that the country has been at a standstill for three days, which he termed as the government’s “biggest failure.”
Abbasi also expressed concerns about the government’s approach to dealing with the opposition, warning that pushing them against the wall will only lead to further escalation. He emphasized that the country cannot be run with a “stolen mandate” and called for the government to step down.
The situation in Pakistan remains volatile, with protests and clashes between opposition supporters and government forces continuing across the country. The international community is watching the situation closely, with many calling for a peaceful resolution to the crisis.¹
