PAKISTAN URGES UNESCO TO PROMOTE PEACE, ADDRESS GLOBAL CHALLENGES

Paris, October 14,. Pakistan’s Ambassador to France and Permanent Delegate to UNESCO, Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, addressed the 220th Session of the UNESCO Executive Board, emphasizing the need for strategic direction amidst global tensions and crises.

He called for frank dialogue, collaboration, and strengthened cooperation with the wider UN system and global forums. Ahmad highlighted UNESCO’s critical role in promoting peace, urging immediate ceasefire in Gaza and addressing the root cause of the Middle East crisis – the decades-long illegal Israeli occupation.

Pakistan reiterated its support for the Palestinian cause, emphasizing the importance of preserving cultural heritage, promoting education, countering disinformation, and upholding peace ideals.
