Over Rs. 1.23 billion recovered from defaulters, pilferers as QESCO drive continues

QUETTA: More than Rs. 1.23 billion have so far been recovered from the electricity utility bills defaulters and pilferers during the crackdown continued by the Quetta Electric Supply Company (QESCO) all over the province including Quetta.
According to the spokesman of QESCO, over Rs. 1.7 billion have been recovered from the defaulters on account of the dues while over Rs. 0.16 billion have been recovered from those involved in pilferage of electricity, on account of the fine charged them.
Meanwhile, 308 more power connections of the defaulters were disconnected and 10 transformers were removed during last 24 hours in different areas of the province including Quetta.
In addition to this, 53 shunt and tempered meters were also removed in the metropolis, the spokesman informed.
Moreover, a total of 1368 applications have been submitted in the police stations to file cases against the power pilferers.
However, 386 FIRs have so far been registered against the power pilferers in the province, QESCO spokesman maintained.
