Over 35,000 immigrants repatriated to homeland so far

QUETTA: The caretaker Provincial Minister for Information, Jan Achakzai has reiterated the interim government’s firm resolve for stern legal action against the illegal immigrants residing in the province as the deadline set for them is already over.
He said that the crackdown has been started against the illegal immigrants and it would remain continued without any discrimination.
The action is being taken against all those residing in the province without any discrimination and any particular national is not being targeted in the drive against the illegal immigrants.
The caretaker Minister Information was addressing a press conference along with the Commissioner Quetta, Muhammad Hamza Shafqaat, here at the Quetta Press Club on Wednesday.
Jan Achakzai asserted that while it is firm resolve of the government to repatriate the illegal immigrants to their respective countries, however, those political parties are trying to exploit the situation should not do it.
“I warn those parties who are trying to take advantage of the situation, they should not take any such step that may harm them in future,” maintained the caretaker Minister Information.
About the repatriation of illegal immigrants, Jan mentioned that over 35,000 immigrants have so far been repatriated via Chaman border. He said that around 100 illegal immigrants have been detained in Quetta till now, and they would be duly deported to their homeland.
He said that it is a complicated task to trace and identify the illegal immigrants, however, efforts are continued in this regard.
He said that two holding centers have been established in Quetta where the detained illegal immigrants would be kept for time being before their repatriation.
He said that it is our endeavour to keep the minimum number of immigrants in the holding centers.
He said that data of illegal immigrants is being collected from all over the province. He said that action is also being taken against those illegal immigrants belonging to Iran, Iraq and other countries besides Afghanistan.
In addition to this, legal action would also be taken against those immigrants who got prepared their documents through illegal means, the Minister added.
He on the occasion appreciated the role being played by the local administration for repatriation of the illegal immigrants describing it very important.
Speaking on the occasion, Commissioner Quetta, Muhammad Hamza Shafqaat said that the drive of repatriation of the illegal immigrants is continued successfully.
He informed that the holding centers have been set up for the illegal immigrants in Quetta. They would be kept in the holding centers on temporary basis after detention for necessary arrangements, he added.
To a query, Commissioner informed that the benami (unnamed) properties of the immigrants would be confiscated by the government after due process.
