One day seminar marking Population Day: Hadia Nawaz calls for making education & empowerment of women ultimate target

QUETTA: The Parliamentary Secretary for Population Welfare, Ms. Hadia Nawaz has stressed the need to make education and empowerment of women ultimate goal. She said that the education makes the women independent and empowers them as such they must be encouraged to get higher education.
The Parliamentary Secretary for Population Welfare was addressing a seminar on World Population Day organized by the District Population office at Quetta Press club on Wednesday.
The Secretary Population Welfare, Abdullah Khan, Director General Population, Ghulam Musafa, former Minister, Mrs. Roshan Khursheed Bharucha, Head of the UNFPA Balochistan, Dr. Sarmad Saeed Khan, senior District Population Officer, Ayub Kakar and other concerned officials were among the prominent participants of the seminar.
The seminar focused on the reproductive health, family planning and balance in resources and population.
Ms. Hadia Nawaz stressed that education of women plays important role in controlling population. She also stressed that there is a need to take steps for informing the parents about better education and upbringing of their children.
The Secretary Population Welfare, Abdullah Khan spoke at length about dangers of population increase and awareness about the initiatives taken and being taken for controlling the population.
He mentioned that the provincial government has started different programmes to control population and reduce mortality rate of the mothers and infants.
He said that increasing population creates social and economic issues mainly regarding accommodation, education, health, transport, potable water and electricity.
Dr. Sarmad Saeed Khan and other speakers also addressed the seminar and stressed the need to take steps for creating awareness about the ill effects of increasing population in the country.
