QUETTA: The scrutiny of nomination papers of the candidates filed candidatures for contesting elections of Senate on general as well as technocrat and women seats was completed on Tuesday here.
The Returning Officer for the Senate elections in Balochistan, Muhammad Farid Afridi, who also happens to be the Provincial Election Commissioner, carried out the necessary scrutiny of nomination papers of the candidates.
At the outset, papers of 28 candidates were accepted after scrutiny.
While the scrutiny of 19 candidates was done on second and last day of the scrutiny i.e., on Tuesday, the same was conducted for 19 others on first day.
Needless to mention here is that in all 38 candidates had filed nomination papers for 11 seats of Senate from Balochistan.
The prominent among those who filed their papers for the Senate elections from Balochistan were included: former caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar, former Speaker Balochistan Assembly, Ms. Rahila Hameed Khan Durrani, former Federal Minister and provincial Ameer of JUI, Maulana Abdul Wasey, ANP’s Aimal Wali Khan, Kauda Babar, Amanullah Kanrani, PPP’s Sardar Umar Gorgej, Mir Changez Jamali, Kiran Baloch, besides Sana Jamali, Bilal Ahmed Khan, Saeedul Hasan, Rahat Jamali and others.
