No objection on peaceful protest in Chaman; instigating public on mutiny intolerable, says GoB spokesman

QUETTA: The spokesman, Government of Balochistan, Shahid Rind has stated that there’s no objection on the peaceful protest (parlat) in Chaman, however, it is intolerable to instigate the people on mutiny or bother them under the garb of protest.
In an official statement issued here on the situation of Chaman on Wednesday, the spokesman of provincial government said that the government made efforts to resolve the issue through negotiations time and again.
The Speaker Provincial Assembly and Ministers also visited Chaman on directives of the Chief Minister, Mir Sarfraz Ahmed Bugti, however, the laghris observing protest maintained deadlock by not showing seriousness in the dialogue. The writ of state and law was challenged for several times during the protest continued for months, Shahid Rind mentioned adding that the FC forte as well as the DC complex and anti-polio team were attacked.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner Chaman, Raja Athar Abbas said that the district administration held negotiations with the Chaman Parlat (protest) committee on Tuesday night for maintaining law and order situation in Chaman city.
However, during the course of dialogue in DC office Chaman, the laghris attacked the DC and ransacked his office.
However, the Levies force apprehended the miscreants taking immediate action against them. The DC Chaman escaped unhurt in the attack, a press release issued by the district administration mentioned.
The district administration said that the laghris has crossed the red line and now case of anti-terrorism would be registered against the assailants.
It was also mentioned that the laghris have made the whole district hostage for last one month.
The passport office and press club were locked and roads were blocked besides creating mess in the Chaman city, it was pointed out further.
It was further stated that the Levies force took action against the miscreants. Besides, the traffic has been restored by ending the illegal blockage of the Quetta-Chaman highway.
