Karachi, October 6, – In a landmark move*NDF Pakistan and IUCN International Join Forces to Boost Coastal Resilience in Jati, Sujawal* – In a landmark move to protect Pakistan’s coastal communities, the National Disability & Development Forum (NDF) Pakistan has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) International. This strategic partnership aims to enhance resilience in the vulnerable coastal areas of Jati, Sujawal.
Signed by Mr. Abid Lashari, President of NDF, and Mr. Mahmood Akhtar Cheema, Country Head of IUCN Pakistan, the agreement focuses on sustainable livelihoods, environmental conservation, and capacity building for the local population. The partnership will leverage NDF’s expertise to create sustainable resilience among the fisherfolk community in Jati, disproportionately affected by climate change, environmental degradation, and natural disasters.
The collaboration will:
*Promote Sustainable Livelihoods*: Empower local communities with eco-friendly income opportunities.
Conserve Coastal Ecosystems*: Protect marine resources and preserve natural habitats.
Build Capacity*: Enhance skills and knowledge of local populations to adapt to climate change.
