National Accountability Bureau Balochistan Hosts Seminar in Observance of International Anti-Corruption Day 2024 with the theme of “Uniting with Youth against Corruption: Shaping Tomorrow’s Integrity” at BUITEMS, Quetta on 4th December 2024.
Quetta, Balochistan – December 4, 2024: In a compelling effort to engage the youth in the fight against corruption and promote a culture of integrity, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Balochistan held a seminar with the theme “Uniting with Youth Against Corruption: Shaping Tomorrow’s Integrity” at the Balochistan University of Information Technology, Engineering, and Management Sciences (BUITEMS), Quetta.
This event was organized in commemoration of International Anti-Corruption Day 2024 and was attended by students, educators, government officials, media personals and civil society members. The theme underscores the critical role of young people in building a corruption-free society and highlighted the importance of collective action to promote governance and transparency. The seminar was graced by Governor Balochistan Sheikh Jafar Khan Mandukhel as the Chief Guest.
In his opening remarks, Director General NAB (Balochistan) Mr. Nauman Aslam welcomed participants and highlighted the importance of recognizing and encouraging young change makers:
“Acknowledging the efforts of our youth in promoting transparency is essential for building their confidence and motivating others to follow suit. Their contributions are vital in the fight against corruption.”
Distinguished guest speakers included Justice (R) Mehta Kelash Nath Kohli and former secretary Mr. Munir Ahmed Badini, whose profound insights on integrity and accountability inspired the audience. The VC BUITEMS Mr. Khalid Hafeez also shared his thoughts on the topic and stimulated the audience with lifetime experience.
Under awareness strategy NAB conducted different anticorruption thematic inter university competitions this year in different categories i.e. Declamation, Essay writing, poster, calligraphy and short film and the students who got positions in different categories were awarded certificates and cash prizes in the seminar.
The Governor Balochistan delivered an inspiring keynote address, emphasizing the government’s efforts to combat corruption and urging the youth to play a proactive role in this mission. “Corruption erodes the very foundations of our society. By empowering our youth with education and ethical values, we can create a future where integrity prevails over dishonesty. Today’s event is a significant step in that direction,” the Governor remarked. He expressed hope for a brighter future, led by an empowered and integrity-driven younger generation. He emphasized the role of education in cultivating ethical values and assured participants unwavering support of the Government in promoting accountability at all levels.
A awareness walk was also conducted at the venue, led by the Governor, guest speakers and other dignitaries. Students, faculty members, and NAB officials participated, carrying banners and placards with messages promoting integrity and denouncing corruption. It served as a powerful visual representation of unity and resolve against corruption.
The seminar on “Uniting with Youth Against Corruption: Shaping Tomorrow’s Integrity” was a resounding success, leaving an indelible impact on participants and reinforcing the importance of youth involvement in combating corruption. The seminar received an overwhelmingly positive response from attendees, who appreciated NAB Balochistan’s efforts to raise awareness and inspire collective action as visioned and directed by the Chairman NAB Lt. Gen (R) Nazir Ahmed. NAB Balochistan’s collaborative approach with institutions for educating students about evils of corruption and ways for its eradication is a testament to its dedication to fostering a corruption-free future.
