QUETTA: The much-needed and long-awaited Green Bus Service is going to be launched from today (Monday).
According to the provincial Transport Department, all the necessary arrangements have been made to start the Green Bus Service from today.
The formal inauguration of the Green Bus Service is scheduled to be made at 12:00 Noon at the Balochistan University of Information Technology, Engineering and Management Sciences (BUITEMS) Takato campus, Baleli.
As per programme, the inauguration of Green Bus Service would be done by an ordinary passenger travelling on the local public transport, as already announced by the Chief Minister Balochistan, Mir Abdul Quddus Bizenjo in a tweet on his social media account Twitter.
Initially, the Green Bus Service would be operated between Baleli to University of Balochistan.
In all eight big and small green buses would be plied on the route, which would have 18 stopovers between its route on one side.
While a Green Bus would have the seating capacity of 60 passengers, the small buses would be 40-seated.
The fare for a passenger has been fixed as Rs. 30 in the Green buses, the sources of Provincial Transport department informed.
According to the Information Department, the special seating arrangement has been made for the women and elderly persons in the Green Buses.
It is also believed that the Green Bus Service would help reduce the flow of traffic in the provincial metropolis.
While on the other hand, the middle class segment would have the modern transport facility with the launch of Green Bus Service in Quetta.
