Mr. Momin Agha, Additional Secretary (In charge) Federal Ministry of Industries and Production made a review of the projects being administered by the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA) as Common Facility Centers for SMEs. The review meeting was attended by the Senior Management team of SMEDA led by Mr. Socrat Aman Rana, General Manager Central Support.
The meeting focused attention on progress of the seven important projects being implemented under Public Sector Development Program that include Industrial Stiching Units, Business Skill Development Center for Women, D.I. Khan, National Business Development Program for SMEs, Product Development Center for Composites Based Sports Goods, Sialkot, Research, Regulatory Insight & Advocacy Assistance for SMEs, SME Business Facilitation Center, Multan, Acquisition of Land for Establishment of SME Facilitation Centers at Various Locations. SMEDA requested extension for Industrial Stitching Units Project as well as the SME Business Facilitation Center, Multan. Whereas revision in PC-1 of the National Business Development Program was also considered on this occasion.
The meeting also reviewed the recent initiatives taken by SMEDA for creating an effective support mechanism for SMEs. In this regard, Implementation of the National SME Policy, enhancement of Business Development Services for SMEs, Strengthening Institutional & Stakeholders Networking, promotion of Special Initiatives with International Development Partner and expansion in scope of SME One-Window.
Mr. Momin Agha assured SMEDA to make a strong coordination with the concerned quarters at government level to obtain the funds required for continuation of the CFC projects of SMEDA and advised to enhance collaborations with SME Stakeholders including international and national development partners to lay down the projects as per demand of the SME sector.
