Lahore : Provincial Transport Minister Bilal Akbar Khan said that Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz wants to double the quota of e-bikes and include every section of the society while in the first phase students of different universities will be included. A procedure for scrutiny of the application process and redressal of grievances from the on students should be formulated so that no one’s rights will be violated. These views were expressed by the provincial minister while presiding over the first meeting of the steering committee established regarding e-bikes. Secretary Transport Dr. Javed Ahmed Qazi told the participants during the briefing that a steering committee has been notified by the Chief Minister of Punjab which will make it possible to solve the problems faced regarding the supply of E and P bikes and included all the stakeholders in it. The purpose of the meeting is to incorporate everyone’s suggestions and turn valuable feedback into a final plan. Twenty thousand e-bikes have been approved by Chief Minister Punjab, but now a summary will be made to increase it, but before that all stakeholders will be taken into confidence. Various proposals were presented in the meeting, in which emphasis was placed on the inclusion of the specials persons and other sections. The provincial minister said that a working group should be formed and all the steps should be clear in the PITB portal to avoid any ambiguity. He directed that a proposal of 15,000 and 25,000 should be made for female and male students so that approval can be obtained from the Chief Minister of Punjab. He further directed that everything should be highlighted in the newspaper advertisement and the scheme should be completed before June. Representatives of Chairman PITB, Additional IG Traffic Police, Additional Secretaries Information, Finance, HEC, Environment and representatives of other departments were present on the occasion.
