QUETTA: The Balochistan Assembly adopted two resolutions here in its session held on Friday afternoon.
The Speaker Balochistan Assembly, Captain (Retd) Abdul Khaliq Achakzai was in the chair.
The resolutions adopted by the House were related to the increase in annual grant of Balochistan Institute of Nephro-Urology (BINUQ) and registration of the private water tanker operators and licenses of their drivers in Quetta city.
The resolution about increase in grant of BINUQ was tabled by the Member Provincial Assembly belonging to National Party, Mir Rehmat Saleh Baloch while the second resolution about registration of the private water tanker operators was presented by the MPA belonging to JUI.
In his resolution, the MPA Rehmat Baloch demanded of the provincial government to increase the grant of BINUQ from existing Rs. 500 million to Rs. 2 billion. The government should ensure allocation of the grant of BINUQ from Rs. 500 million to Rs. 2 billion in view of the increasing number of patients there, the MPA demanded through his resolution.
It was also pointed out that the BINUQ is the only center of providing free treatment to the patients of kidney in Balochistan where hundreds of patients are provided free treatment and medicines.
He also pointed out that 300-400 major and minor operations of the patients are carried out in the Institute while dialysis of 100-120 patients are also done on daily basis there.
In addition to this, transplant of more than 65 patients have also been done in the BINUQ, it was further noted.
Meanwhile, through her resolution, the MPA Shahid Rauf demanded of the provincial government to conduct registration of the private water tankers supplying water in Quetta city and surrounding areas.
Moreover, ban should be imposed on those drivers operating the water tankers without licenses, it was further demanded adding that use of mobile phones and headphones should also be banned during driving.
Earlier, the MPA Dr. Abdul Malik Baloch on a point of order said that session of provincial assembly is being run by the Opposition. He said that the government members have no interest in running the assembly.
He said that if government members didn’t turn up in the session next time, then we would pinpoint towards quorum.
He also urged the House to form a committee on the matter of not given the departments to the province after passage of 18th amendment.
MPA Shahida Rauf pointed out towards lesser number of flights for interior country from Quetta. She demanded of the authorities to increase number of flight from Quetta to other parts of the country.
On a point of order, the Parliamentary secretary, Ms. Meena Majeed Baloch paid homage to the martyrs of September 6.
Later, the session of assembly was adjourned till 03:00 PM on September 9, 2024.
