LAHORE TRAFFIC POLICE LAUNCHES CRACKDOWN ON OVERLOADED VEHICLES

Lahore: Aug 08Lahore Traffic Police has launched a crackdown on overloaded vehicles, including loader rickshaws and cars, in response to the growing number of fatal accidents. CTO Lahore has ordered the registration of cases against loader rickshaws carrying goods outside their bodies.

The police have been directed to take action against vehicles carrying large iron rods, steel, and other materials that pose a threat to passing citizens. Vehicle owners and drivers are warned not to exceed the prescribed limit and load.

Cases will be registered against those carrying steel, TR guards, and other iron materials. Drivers’ licenses will also be canceled for overloaded vehicles. Special checkpoints will be set up on Allama Iqbal Road, GT Road, Ferozepur Road, Multan Road, and Shahdara.

No heavy traffic will be allowed to enter the city before 11 pm. Tractors and trailers carrying sand, soil, and other dusty materials must be covered from the top. Loader vehicles must install head and backlights and reflectors.

In light of the increasing number of fatal accidents, a strict crackdown will be launched against such vehicles. Eight senior wardens and 24 wardens will be deployed under the supervision of circle officers at the city’s entry and exit points.
