The Lahore Division traders have lauded Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s decision to consolidate departments related to traders, terming it a significant step towards resolving long-standing issues ¹. Provincial Minister for Price Control and Commodity Development, Salma Butt, attended a meeting with traders, where she assured that the government is working tirelessly to alleviate inflation and eradicate its root causes.
Chairman Supreme Council of All Pakistan Traders, Naeem Mir, emphasized the need for a fair system, criticizing the current administration’s price controls as exploitative ¹. Salma Butt acknowledged the concerns, stating that digitization efforts are underway to align official price lists with realistic values.
The minister also announced the establishment of a coordination committee comprising district-level trader representatives from across Punjab. This move aims to facilitate dialogue and address trader concerns more effectively.
Traders from Lahore, Sheikhupura, Nankana Sahib, and Kasur attended the meeting, demonstrating unity and solidarity in their quest for a more equitable business environment ¹.
