Chitral. Sep. 25 Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Provincial Minister for Food, Zahir Shah Toru, announced that the provincial government has successfully purchased high-quality wheat at the lowest price. The government bought 40 kg of wheat for Rs 3,900, outperforming Sindh’s rate of Rs 4,000, while Balochistan’s rate remains undisclosed but likely higher [1).
Toru emphasized that the wheat was procured from local farmers and those in Punjab, ensuring the best quality. The procurement process took place in selected centers across the province, with farmers bearing the costs of loading, unloading, and transportation.
The Minister revealed these details during an open court session, held as part of his four-day visit to Chitral. The event was attended by representatives from the traders union, the public, and media professionals.
This achievement comes on the heels of Toru’s strong rebuttal against corruption allegations made by Federal Minister Amir Maqam. Toru maintained that the wheat procurement process was transparent, saving the province over Rs 8 billion ¹.
