KP Olympic Association demands rights of hosting of SAFE Games events

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Olympic Association in its executive body meeting has demanded the right of hosting at least three Games of the forthcoming SAFE Games to be held in  Islamabad.
In this connection the meeting of the Executive Council was held here at a local hotel with President Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Olympic Association and former Sports Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Syed Aqil Shah in the chair.
Members of the Executive Council including former international gold medal shooter Dr. Inam Ullah Khan Gandapur, Arbab Naseer Khan, Secretary Zulfiqar Butt and others participated in the meeting. He said Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Olympic Association hosted two National Games including the 31st National Games in 2010 and 33rd National Games in 2019 which were the best ever Games so it is the legitimate right of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to host at least three Games of the forthcoming SAFE Games.
Syed Aqil Shah requested the Governor KP Faisal Karim Kundi and Chief Minister KP Ali Amin Gandapur to appeal to the Federal Government in this regard.
President KP Olympic Association Syed Aqil Shah also congratulated Zulfiqar Ali Butt for being appointed as Secretary General Pakistan Archery Federation. He said the contribution of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as vital members of the Pakistan Olympic Association so looking after the long lasting image of KP for the promotion of sports in the country, so three games should be allotted.
Former World Champion Qamar Zaman, Imtiaz Afridi, Rahmat Gul Afridi, Faqir Muhammad Awan, Zulfiqar Butt, Dr. Inamullah Gandapur, Amjad Khan and officials of various associations participated in the meeting.
Syed Aqil Shah said that a committee consisting of Qamar Zaman, Syed Akhtar Ali Shah and Zulfiqar Butt has been formed which will meet the Chief Minister, Sports Advisor and Sports Secretary and inform them about the situation of sports.
Expenditure on salaries of sports board employees is being spent if the government wanted to promote sports, it has to talk to the Olympic Association, he added. He said that in the previous National Games, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was ahead of other provinces except Sindh.
The children of the province are playing on behalf of different departments, he said. A letter will be written to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Olympic Association, which has not been getting annual grants for many years, and an annual grant should be issued, Syed Aqil Shah said
