KP Food Safety and Halal Food Authority Crackdown: Huge Quantity of Fake and Substandard Goods Seize

 

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety and Halal Food Authority has intensified its crackdown against adulteration in edible items, conducting significant operations in Peshawar, Mardan, Nowshera, and Charsadda. The food safety teams seized large quantities of fake and substandard beverages, milk, and counterfeit packing materials, imposing heavy fines.
While providing details, spokesperson for the Food Authority stated that the food safety teams carried out inspections at the Peshawar Motorway Toll Plaza and GT Road Pabbi in Nowshehra. The teams set up checkpoints and inspected vehicles carrying food items. Using mobile food testing lab, they examined samples from milk tankers, ice cream, and various food items. Over 500 liters of substandard milk were found and subsequently dispose of on the spot. Furthermore, Peshawar team also inspected an ice factory, where the factory owner was fined for violating food authority regulations, with a warning notice issued as well.
According to the details, the Nowshera team intercepted a vehicle at a checkpoint in Pabbi, seizing over 3,000 liters of fake and substandard branded cold drinks. In another operation, the Mardan food safety team raided an ice cream factory, confiscating 180 kilograms of counterfeit packing reels. Similarly, during a check in Charsadda, 120 kilograms of fake packaging reels were seized from a vehicle. Heavy fines were imposed on the owners for violating health and safety standards, and further action was initiated under the Food Safety Act.

Director General of the Food Authority, Wasif Saeed, commended the food safety teams for their successful operations. Wasif reiterated the commitment of the KP Food Authority to protect public health, stating that those involved in producing and distributing hazardous and substandard food items will be dealt with iron hands, and no leniency will be shown.
