In a crackdown against the harmful and substandard food items, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety and Halal Food Authority carried out a major operation in Peshawar, seizing over 750 kilograms of prohibited China salt from a warehouse at the Old Haji Camp. The contraband salt was immediately taken into government custody.
According to details released by the KP Food Authority spokesperson, the food safety team conducted surprise inspections at goods transport terminals in old Haji Camp. During the operation, a significant quantity of China salt was recovered filled in empty rice sacks. The owner of the banned substance were heavily fined, and further action has been initiated under the Food Safety Act.
Good Transporters were also warned to refrain from facilitating the delivery of banned items.
The Director General of the KP Food Authority Wasif Saeed, praised the food safety team for its successful operation, emphasizing that the crackdown against adulteration mafias and unsafe food practices is ongoing across the province.
Minister for Food Zahir Shah Toru reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring the provision of pure and safe food to the public. He vowed to rid the province of such “anti-people elements” and pledged strict punitive action against those endangering public health through harmful practices.
