Khuzdar Nov. 28. (Bureau Report) – The budget session of the Khuzdar District Council was held under the chairmanship of Acting Speaker Mir Abdul Rahman Zehri. The budget for 2025, amounting to Rs. 16 crore, was presented by Member District Council Mir Juma Khan Shikrani.
District Council Chairman Haji Salahuddin Zehri addressed the session, stating that the local government system in Balochistan has become extremely weak due to legislation that has undermined the institution. He added that the province’s MPs have played a significant role in this weakening. Zehri also pointed out that while municipal institutions in other provinces receive 25% of the funds, Balochistan’s municipal institutions do not even receive 5%.
Zehri expressed gratitude to the former Chief Minister of Balochistan, Nawab Sanaullah Khan Zehri, for his cooperation in increasing the funds for the district council. He stated that the funds have been increased from 16 to 32 billion rupees, and the union council funds have also been increased by 32%.
Zehri also thanked the Chief Minister of Balochistan, Mir Safraz Bugti, for his support in increasing the funds.
