Mirpur Mathelo, August 27 – Unidentified armed men shot and killed journalist Bachal Ghanchho in the Raunti area of Mirpur Mathelo. Ghanchho, a representative of a private news channel, was attacked while on his way to his agricultural land. He was shot multiple times and died on the spot. His body was shifted to the Taluka Hospital in Ubauro for necessary procedures and later handed over to his heirs.
The incident sparked outrage among journalists, who staged a protest and sit-in outside the SSP Mirpur Mathelo office, demanding the arrest of those involved in the murder. Journalist leaders, including Azam Sohriani, Latif Laghari, and Qazi Iqbal, participated in the protest.
However, according to the police spokesperson, Ghanchho was killed by armed men from his own community due to an old enmity. Police teams have been dispatched to apprehend the suspects, and arrests are expected soon.
