Jacobabad’s police have stepped up security for polio workers after a recent assault on a female worker. The Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Jacobabad, Captain (Retd) Saddam Hussain, visited various polio points and camps to review security arrangements and ensure the successful continuation of the anti-polio campaign.
During his visit, the SSP interacted with polio workers and police personnel, listening to their concerns and assuring them of necessary cooperation to perform their duties effectively. He commended the polio workers’ efforts and reaffirmed Jacobabad police’s commitment to providing full protection to all frontline health workers participating in the polio campaign.
This increased security comes after a disturbing incident where a polio worker was allegedly assaulted by unknown individuals. The incident highlights the risks faced by polio workers in Pakistan, particularly women, who are crucial in administering polio vaccinations to children.
