It is the mission of the Federal Tax Ombudsman to protect the rights of taxpayers through prompt justice; says Sardar Ali Khawaja

Peshawar: Advisor Federal Tax Ombudsman Sardar Ali Khawaja has said that the mission of FTO is to redress the legitimate grievances of taxpayers in a timely manner and to fully protect their rights through prompt justice. He shared his views during a meeting with the heads of various educational institutions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa regarding tax matters at Regional Office Peshawar. A representative delegation of the School Officers’ Association, led by Principal Riaz Ahmed Bahaar and Principal Samiullah Khalil, thanked the Federal Tax Ombudsman and thanked the institution for highlighting the tax-related issues faced by the principals and headmasters and that the long-standing issue of tax rebates was resolved, however the delegation pointed out that refunds of tax illegally levied in previous years are still due. Sardar Ali Khawaja assured the delegation that in the light of the directives of the FTO Dr. Asif Mehmood Jah, the heads of all the educational institutions which are registered with FBR and regularly submit their income tax returns are being treated as per the law. He added that tax rebate will be given and their arrears and tax refund issues will be resolved on priority basis. The delegation was informed that instructions have been issued to all regional tax offices in this regard.
