Islamabad, October 24, 2024: The India Study Centre (ISC) at the Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad (ISSI) organized a seminar on “United Nations and the Jammu and Kashmir Dispute” today, coinciding with UN Day. The event aimed to highlight the complexities of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute and the challenges faced by the United Nations in advancing its purposes and principles ¹.
Ambassador Masood Khan, former President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, was the Chief Guest at the seminar. Other notable speakers included Ms Farzana Yaqoob, former Minister for Social Welfare and Women Development, AJK; Dr. Marium Fatima, Assistant Professor at National Defence University (NDU); and Mr. Altaf Hussain Wani, Chairman of the Kashmir Institute of International Relations.
The seminar provided a platform for experts to discuss the challenges faced by the United Nations in implementing its resolutions and ensuring justice for the oppressed people of Jammu and Kashmir. The event was part of ISSI’s efforts to promote informed research, objective analysis, and dialogue on global and regional issues affecting peace, security, and development in Pakistan ¹.
