PESHAWAR– The Finance Planning Committee of Islamia College Peshawar convened yesterday to discuss and finalize the budget for the fiscal year 2023-24. The meeting was chaired by the Vice Chancellor of Islamia College Peshawar, Professor Dr. Ali Muhammad Yousafzai, and saw participation from key stakeholders including Dr. Mohsin Habib from the Higher Education Department, Finance Budget Officer Imtiaz Khan, and HEC Director Accounts Samina Durrani, who joined the session online. The meeting was a significant event in the college’s annual calendar, highlighting its commitment to financial prudence and strategic development. Treasurer Dr. Naveed Abbas presented the budget, which was well-received by the attendees, being lauded as balanced and forward-looking. Among the notable attendees were Registrar Arbab Dawood Zahid, P&D Director Dr. Sajjad, Dr. Sher Ali, and Admin Officer Ali Shah, along with other senior officials. Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Ali Muhammad Yousafzai provided an in-depth briefing on strategies to reduce the college’s deficit. He underscored the importance of new revenue-generating contracts and ongoing construction projects designed to expand the college’s infrastructure. Dr. Yousafzai detailed plans for the completion of new buildings, which will enhance classroom capacity and accommodate new departments. The administration block has recently been completed, and the social sciences department is expected to become operational shortly. The Ahmed Faraz block will see an increase in first-year admissions, reflecting the college’s esteemed reputation in the province. In a bid to further bolster the college’s educational offerings, the Vice Chancellor announced the initiation of short courses during summer vacations and the construction of hostels in vacant buildings to address the urgent need for female student accommodations. These measures are part of a broader strategy to improve research facilities, enrich curricular activities, and elevate the overall educational experience at Islamia College. Dr. Yousafzai expressed his gratitude to the college staff for their vigilance and efforts in mitigating financial losses, emphasizing their hard work and dedication in navigating these challenges. He assured that the administration is committed to enhancing the institution’s financial health and academic standing. The meeting concluded with a collective resolve to implement the proposed measures, aiming to sustain and grow Islamia College Peshawar’s legacy as a leading educational institution.
