Islamabad High Court Summons Party Leaders for Non-Compliance with 5% Women’s Quota

According to sources from the Islamabad High Court and the Election Commission of Pakistan, the court has summoned the leaders of several political parties, including Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Ameer Hafiz Naeemur Rehman, Awami National Party (ANP) Chief Asfandyar Wali Khan, and others, for non-compliance with the 5% women’s quota in the allocation of party tickets.

The Election Commission has issued notices to 10 political parties, including JI, ANP, Balochistan National Party (BNP), and Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP), for failing to allocate 5% of their party tickets to women. This is a legal requirement, and parties that fail to comply cannot be allocated an election symbol and cannot contest the election as a political party.

The notices summon the party leaders to appear before the ECP on September 4.
