Islamabad Food Authority Cracks Down on Substandard Food

ISLAMABAD, JULY 5, 2024

The Islamabad Food Authority (IFA) has launched a crackdown on substandard food in the city. A team led by Deputy Director IFA raided a production unit in Tarlai and seized 1600kg of expired sauce and jam. The unit, owned by Dr. Tahirah Siddique, was found to be storing expired products in a cold storage facility for supply to various small food points in the city.

The IFA team foiled an attempt to supply harmful and expired products to the citizens of Islamabad, thereby saving them from various diseases. The authority has imposed a complete ban on the sale of expired products and sealed the unit for violating food safety laws.

The Deputy Director IFA warned that no leniency would be shown to the mafia involved in food adulteration and assured that the authority would continue to take strict action against such violations.
