In all 4867 connections found involved in power pilferage, 158 arrested so far: QESCO

QUETTA: In all 4,867 electricity connections have so far been involved in the pilferage and some 158 arrested on the same charges as the extensive campaign is continued by the Quetta Electric Supply Company (QESCO) all over the province.
This was informed by the spokesman of QESCO while sharing detail of the Company’s crackdown against the power pilferers and defaulters.
According to QESCO spokesman, the crackdown is continued without any discrimination in all areas against those involved in the power pilferage and defaulters.
He said that 1255 applications have been submitted against the power pilferers in the province.
Out of them, 380 FIRs have been registered against the thieves while 158 arrested so far on the charges of pilfering. These FIRs have been registered i.e., 66 in Quetta, 89 in Loralai, 65 in Khuzdar, 93 in Sibi, 46 in Pishin and 21 in Makran.
Over Rs. 120 million have been charged fine to the power pilferers and over Rs. 88 million have been received from them.
