Quetta, In a significant administrative reshuffle within Balochistan’s governance framework, the Balochistan Provincial Service proudly announces the appointment of Grade 20 officer, Imran Zarkoon, as the Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister of Balochistan. This appointment comes as a result of Imran Zarkoon’s exceptional service record and his recent promotion in grade 20 during the review board, underscored by his advanced educational pursuits overseas.
Hailing from the Kohlu region of Balochistan, Mr. Zarkoon is distinguished as the sole officer from the Balochistan Provincial Service to have graduated from the esteemed Oxford University, UK. His academic brilliance further shines through his Masters in Development from the London School of Economics and Political Science, UK. Imran Zarkoon also has the unique honor of being the first Pakistani to receive the Senior Fellow in Public Service Award at the National University of Singapore’s Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, along with holding a position as a Senior Executive Fellow at Harvard Kennedy University in the United States.
During the challenging times of the Corona epidemic under the leadership of former Chief Minister Balochistan Jam Kamal Khan, Mr. Zarkoon, then serving as DGP DMA, demonstrated unparalleled dedication and leadership, contributing significantly to the region’s response efforts.
With a rich background in various pivotal roles including DG QDA, DG Mines, Director General Public Relations, and Secretary Industries and Crafts among others, Imran Zarkoon has consistently proven his administrative and managerial acumen. His expertise is not limited to his professional accomplishments; Mr. Zarkoon is also profoundly knowledgeable in tribal and traditional systems, and he is fluent in Pashto, Balochi, Saraiki, Punjabi, Khetrani, and Sindhi languages. This linguistic proficiency reflects his deep connection and understanding of Balochistan’s diverse cultural landscape.
Known for his bold, decisive, and brave persona, Mr. Zarkoon’s appointment was championed by the Chief Secretary Balochistan and the Chief Minister of Balochistan, Mir Sarfaraz Bugti, who views him as a visionary regional leader.
