IGP directs to take steps for increasing number of surveillance cameras under Quetta Safe City Project

QUETTA: The Inspector General of Police Balochistan, Moazzam Jah Ansari has directed to the concerned police high ups to take steps for expediting pace of work on the second phase of Quetta Safe City Project in order to increase number of surveillance cameras.
He directed to make the non-functional cameras operational at the earliest. Besides, he also directed to extend the coverage of cameras on the blind spots and the highest crimes reporting areas.
The IGP was speaking on occasion of the visit of Quetta Safe City Project here on Monday. The IGP was welcomed by the DIG Police, Quetta, Aitezaz Ahmed Goraya and other concerned senior police officials including AIG Police, Muhammad Asim, Project Director Safe City Project, Tariq Bizenjo.
The IGP was briefed about the overall functioning of the Quetta Safe City Project, its different sections and nature of tasks.
The IGP on the occasion said that the basic objective of the Safe City Project is to establish peace and ensure protection of the life and property of the general public.
He said that it is also aimed at enhancing security and structure of surveillance by utilizing the modern technology.
The IGP also directed to connect the surveillance feeds, emergent service and communication means with the Safe City Project.
In addition to this, the real time monitoring system should also be improved utilizing the artificial intelligence, adding the IGP stressed.
He, however, expressed satisfaction over the overall performance of the Quetta Safe City Project and said that although it is increasing the capacity of the law enforcement agencies, still there’s a room of more improvement in it.
