Himmat Cards be launched on pattern of Punjab

QUETTA: The Governor Balochistan, Sheikh Jaffar Khan Mandokhail has assured that every possible cooperation would be extended to resolve the issues being faced by the persons with disabilities including the blind ones.
The Governor emphasized upon implementing the special quota allocated by the government for jobs in different departments of the province.
He also stressed to launch Himmat Cards for the special persons in Balochistan on pattern of the Punjab government. In addition to this, it should be ensured that the offices concerning the special persons should be on first floor of the official buildings so that they may not face any inconvenience to get access to them.
He was addressing a special ceremony organized by the Pakistan Association of Blinds, Balochistan chapter here at the auditorium of Boy Scouts Association’s Headquarter on Tuesday.
Addressing the ceremony, the Governor regretfully pointed out that the special persons are the most oppressed segment of the society, therefore, everyone should encourage them.
He said that it is good that it has been declared an inappropriate to say the persons with disabilities as disabled ones. He said that blindness is surely a physical disability, but to him, lack of wisdom is big dilemma.
He stressed that implementation should be made on the quota of jobs allocated for special persons in the government departments.
The Governor particularly urged the Social Welfare Department to take steps for welfare of the special persons besides providing them opportunities of livelihood to them.
He announced Rs. 200,000 for the Pakistan Association of Blinds.
The function was attended by office bearers of the Association of Blinds as well as representatives of the civil society, officials of concerned departments and the special persons and their families. Prominent among them were Secretary Social Welfare, Shujat Ali Khosa, Professor Dr. Farkhanda Aurangzaib, Chairperson of Balochistan Commission on Status of Women, Ms. Fauzia Shaheen, President Association of Blinds, Ghulam Dastagir and others.
