Govt. making endeavours to reduce maternal & infant mortality rate in Balochistan

QUETTA: The Secretary Health Department, Abdullah Khan has stated that the provincial government is making endeavours to reduce the maternal and infant mortality rate in the province besides prevention of diseases in them.
The Secretary Health appreciated the role of UNFPA in reducing and controlling the mortality rate of mothers and infants, provision of medicines and equipment in hospitals, technical training of community midwife, doctors and nurses and its support for other public health.
He was presiding over the meeting of MNCH and UNFPA here on Friday.
The meeting was attended by the Additional Secretary Health, Arif Khan, provincial coordinator MNCH, Dr. Gul Sabin, Chief Planning Officer, Abdul Rasool Zehri , Provincial Lead UNFPA, Dr. Sarmad Saeed Khan, UNFPA’s Dr. Anum and Anita and Staff Officer Shaukat Baloch.
The Provincial Coordinator MNCH Programme, Dr. Gul Sabin briefed the meeting about ongoing works under MNCH in the health centers of districts.
Meanwhile, the Provincial Lead UNFPA Dr. Sarmad informed about the action plan of UNFPA for healthcare of mothers and infants in the provincial, district and other hospitals.
