QUETTA: The Government of Balochistan has launched the “Quetta Development Package,” a visionary initiative aimed at transforming the infrastructure and overall development of Quetta, the provincial capital.
The package focuses on creating a more inclusive and accessible city that meets the diverse needs of its residents, with special attention to the requirements of women across Balochistan.
Chairperson of the Balochistan Commission on the Status of Women (BCSW), Ms. Fauzia Shaheen, emphasized that the Quetta Development Package is a significant step towards enhancing the city’s landscape and addressing essential public needs. “This package is designed with a comprehensive approach that fully considers the needs of women in Quetta and beyond,” stated Fauzia Shaheen.
The package includes the construction and expansion of key infrastructure such as roads, alongside the provision of essential facilities to improve the quality of life for women. Public spaces will now feature dedicated washrooms, prayer areas, and common rooms for women, ensuring comfort and safety in commonly frequented areas. Additionally, the package includes initiatives to establish digital libraries for girls and build sports complexes specifically for women, promoting their educational and physical well-being.
The Quetta Development Package is not only expected to uplift the city’s infrastructure but also enhance the quality of life for women and foster economic growth by attracting both local and foreign investment. Through this gender-sensitive approach, the package aims to make Quetta a city that supports equality and inclusion for all its residents.
