QUETTA: The Governor Balochistan, Malik Abdul Wali Khan Kakar has stressed the need to fully benefit from blue economy and marine resources for ending economic crisis and restoring economy.
He also called for holding a grand seminar on the blue economy at the national level.
He was of the view that Pakistan can meet the requirements of sea food of Japan by exporting the same there.
He said that the public sector universities can play important role in making research and wise planning based on the modern knowledge besides getting the necessary information in this regard.
The Governor was speaking to the Vice Chancellor of Gwadar University, Professor Dr. Abdul Razzaq Sabir who called on him here at the Governor House on Wednesday.
He believed that there are bright chances of Gwadar’s becoming a prominent trade center soon because of the ongoing development process in the coastal areas of Balochistan especially Gwadar.
However, there’s a need to inform the world about the profitable prospects of trade development in the coastal areas so as to attract the international community towards the best opportunities and prospects available in the province, adding he stressed.
For the purpose, a grand national seminar should be organized seeking guidance and support of the concerned experts regarding trade and commerce activities.
He noted with contentment that it is our good luck that high ups and experts of Pak Navy are already performing in this connection. Therefore, we should benefit from their knowledge, observations and expertise.
He also referred to the ship breaking industry, and said that we can provide facilities to the countries of whole region by promoting the industry.
He said that the responsibilities of universities have been increased regarding producing experts to cope with the challenges of future.
For the purpose, the universities would have to adopt modern techniques besides the traditional educational methods, adding he stressed.
