Government of Balochistan Takes Action Against Police Officials for Negligence and Incompetence in Deputy Commissioner Zakir Baloch’s Assassination

QUETTA, AUGUST 19

On the instructions of the Government of Balochistan, DG Levies has dismissed SHO and three other police officials for their negligence and incompetence in the assassination of Deputy Commissioner Zakir Baloch. Further investigations are underway, and those found responsible will be punished accordingly.

On August 12, a group of banned organizations set up a checkpoint in the Khadkocha area of Mastung district and started sniping. Deputy Commissioner Zakir Baloch arrived at the scene, and despite his driver trying to speed away, the militants opened fire, injuring Zakir Baloch and MPA Rahmat Baloch. Despite multiple police checkpoints in the area, the police failed to respond promptly, leading to Zakir Baloch’s martyrdom and injuring several others. Chief Minister Balochistan, Mir Sardar Faraz Bugti, has ordered ACS Home Shehab Khan to conduct an immediate investigation into the incident.
