GoB decides to make centers for rehabilitation of drug addicts functional; forms committee

QUETTA: The Government of Balochistan has decided to make the centers formed under supervision of Social Welfare Department (SWD) for rehabilitation of drug addicts functional in the province.
In this regard, the Chief Minister, Mir Sarfraz Ahmed Bugti formed a committee for preparing comprehensive recommendations.
The committee, as directed by the Chief Minister, would work under supervision of Secretary Social Welfare Department and prepare the recommendations within a week.
The Chief Minister said that the committee would propose measures for accommodation and rehabilitation of 2500 drug addicts
The Chief Minister directed to establish separate centers for rehabilitation and treatment of the drug addict women and keep their particulars secret.
The Chief Minister was addressing a meeting about rehabilitation of the drug addicts here on Monday.
The Chief Minister was briefed about the functioning of the drug addicts rehabilitation centers in the province including Quetta.
He was highly concerned about the spread of narcotics curse saying that the poison of narcotics is spreading in the society at fast pace.
He stressed the need to take effective measures for prevention of the drug addiction in the society on emergent basis.
He announced that more drug addicts’ rehabilitation centers would be established in collaboration with the welfare organizations.
He said that it is also necessary to eliminate the narcotics sellers in addition to the rehabilitation of the drug addicts.
