Gilgit-Baltistan Government Boosts Media Industry

Islamabad, August 5, 2024 – The Gilgit-Baltistan government has taken significant steps to promote the region’s media industry, particularly the newspaper sector. As part of its efforts, the government allocates approximately Rs. 22 crores annually for official advertisements in local and national newspapers.

In a recent move, the Information Department conducted a comprehensive inspection of local newspapers’ offices, printing presses, and relevant departments to ensure the effective utilization of advertisement funds. A special team, comprising officials from the Information Department, Labor Inspectorate, and Law Department, visited regional newspapers’ offices and printing presses to verify necessary documents and certificate registration etv.

The inspection aimed to ensure that newspapers published in Gilgit-Baltistan comply with all legal requirements. This initiative demonstrates the government’s commitment to supporting the media industry and promoting a free and responsible press in the region.
