Ghulam Nabi Nizamani rejects the PBDN Network’s proposal to reduce the disabled quota from 5% to 3% in Sindh

KARACHI: (PR) Social Activist and leader with disability Mr. Ghulam Nabi Nizamani Chairperson CBID Asia Pacific Network rejected the proposal to reduce the disability quota in Sindh from 5 to 3 percent during a conference organized by Pakistan Business Disability Network (PBDN) held in Karachi. This proposal is unfair and directly threatens the employment rights of persons with disabilities in Sindh. It is a fact that we persons with disabilities represent a significant part of the population, which according to the current census of Pakistan is about 10 percent. A progressive and much needed step has been taken by the Government of Sindh by increasing the quota from 2% to 5% by passing the Sindh Disability Act 2018. And a separate department, Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities was created for these persons. During the press release Mr. Nizamani severely criticized the discriminatory attitude towards Mr. Gh Mohiuddin Asim Siddiqui Additional Secretary DEPD and said that if such attitude is kept towards the officers of this department, who will work for the disabled person. In response to the long-standing demands of disability organizations in Sindh, a quota of 5% in jobs has been set up and a department has been created to promote these efforts to promote disability image in the society.
