Former President Farooq Leghari’s 14th Death Anniversary Today

The 14th death anniversary of Pakistan’s former President Farooq Leghari will be observed tomorrow, October 20, 2024. Born on May 29, 1940, in Choti Zareen, Dera Ghazi Khan, Leghari served as the country’s eighth president from November 14, 1993, to December 2, 1997 ¹.

Leghari’s family has arranged a ceremony to mark the occasion, as per media reports ¹. During his presidency, Leghari played a crucial role in the country’s politics, including dismissing Benazir Bhutto’s government in 1996 ¹.

Before becoming president, Leghari held various positions, including Minister for Water and Power and Foreign Minister. He was also a member of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and later joined the Pakistan Muslim League (Q) ¹.

Leghari passed away on October 20, 2010, at the age of 70, due to cardiac arrest ¹. His legacy continues to be remembered and honored on his death anniversary.
