Gilgit (PR): The former Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan and President of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Gilgit-Baltistan, Hafeez-ur-Rehman, visited Karakoram International University (KIU). According to the Public Relations Department of KIU, during his visit, the former Chief Minister toured the KIU Sports Gymnasium and the Faculty of Engineering. The purpose of the visit was to review the facilities and ongoing progress in these departments.
During the visit, he also met with senior administrative and academic officers of the university. The meeting focused on discussions regarding the enhancement of the educational infrastructure and promoting both academic and sports activities at the university. Dr. Abdul Hamid Lone, the Registrar of KIU, gave a presentation on the university’s vision, mission, as well as its long-term and short-term projects.
Speaking on the occasion, Hafeez-ur-Rehman appreciated KIU’s efforts in providing modern facilities and access to world-class teaching resources for the students of the region. He stated that the work being done by the university deserves immense praise. He assured the university’s administration of his full cooperation in addressing any challenges they face, aiming to further develop this academic institution to enhance higher education and research in the region.
He emphasized that strengthening Karakoram International University is a priority. He committed to playing an active role in resolving the university’s issues and supporting its growth. “The future of Gilgit-Baltistan is closely tied to this institution, and we all need to contribute to its betterment and development,” he added.
After the meeting, Hafeez-ur-Rehman also visited the KIU Sports Gymnasium, the Faculty of Engineering, and the Boys’ Hostel.
