FOOD AUTHORITY CRACKS DOWN ON UNHYGIENIC FOOD CENTERS

The Balochistan Food Authority has imposed fines on 11 food centers during its ongoing operations to ensure the safe supply of food to the public. The Director General of the Balochistan Food Authority had instructed inspection teams to check various food and beverage centers in different areas of Quetta city, including milk.

In Satellite Town, two milk sellers were fined for adulterating milk, and a large quantity of artificial and adulterated milk and yogurt was confiscated. According to the authorities, Scam milk powder and water were mixed in the milk.

Meanwhile, on the complaints of citizens, special inspections were conducted at various centers, including juice corners on Jinnah Road and Imadad Chowk. Fines were imposed on 2 juice and ice cream corners, 1 fast food center, and 1 general store.

Action was taken against juice corners for keeping expired fruits and inadequate storage and cleaning arrangements, and not wearing masks and head covers. Ice cream manufacturers were fined for not displaying manufacturing and expiry dates.

In addition, expired cold drinks and spices were seized from 2 general stores on Samungli Road. During the operations, action was taken against several centers for not having a food business license.
