Section 144 imposed in Gwadar

QUETTA: The Director General Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), Jahanzaib Khan has stated that the necessary steps are being taken to tackle the situation to be emerged following the byper joy cyclone in the coastal areas, as the Met office has predicted possible heavy rains and storm in the wake of cyclone.
The section 144 has been imposed in the coastal areas of Gwadar district. Under the section, the movement of fishermen in the sea and observing picnic and all other activities have been banned at the coast in view of the possible byper joy.
In addition to this, an emergency has also been declared in the hospitals of Gwadar district.
This was informed in the meeting attended by the Deputy Commissioner Gwadar, Izzat Nazir Baloch and other concerned officials on Sunday.
It was informed that the waves could be above 8-10 feet due to the byper joy cyclone, therefore, the fishermen have been directed to go in the open sea.
Meanwhile, the meeting reviewed the arrangements in view of the cyclone. A control room was also established immediately to monitor the heavy rains and storm all over the district.
The officers of concerned departments have also been put on high alert to take precautionary measures ahead of the cyclone in the port city.
Meanwhile, the process of shifting of the fishermen boats was also started under the arrangements of Gwadar Port Authority (GPA).
Started on directives of Chairman GPA Pasand Khan Buledi, the boats are being shifted from sea and coast area to the fish harbor free of coast.
The Chairman GPA said that the heavy machinery and operation staff is taking part in the rescue operation.
Meanwhile, a similar meeting was also held in Hub under chair of the concerned Deputy Commissioner. Important decisions were made regarding disaster plan in view of the possible cyclonic threat.
An emergency was also declared in the Hub district in view of the possible cyclone. The leaves of officers of the concerned departments were also cancelled directing them to remain present on their duty to deal with any emergent situation.
