Khyber:Aug. 03 In a groundbreaking move, female Additional SHOs have been appointed in all four police stations of Khyber district for the first time. According to an order issued from the office of District Police Officer Salim Abbas Kalachi, Lady Constable Mahak Parvez has been posted as Additional SHO at Lundi Kotal police station, while Lady Constable Naila Javed has been appointed as Additional SHO at Ali Masjid police station. Similarly, Lady Constable Fatima Samin Jan has been posted as Additional SHO at Bara police station, and Constable Nusrat has been appointed as Additional SHO at Jamrud police station.
The unusual appointments have received mixed reactions from the public in the tribal districts. While some young people have welcomed the female Additional SHOs on social media, others have criticized the move, calling it “foolish” and questioning the decision to give constables the rank of Additional SHO. They also expressed concerns about the move being against tribal traditions, especially in light of recent attacks on police by militants.
