Federal Minister for Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, and SAFRON, Engineer Amir Muqam, marked National Resilience Day today, commemorating the devastating 2005 earthquake that struck Pakistan on October 8, 2005.
Muqam honored those who showed courage during the disaster, acknowledging the thousands of lives lost. “Today, we remember the resilience and bravery of Pakistanis who faced the catastrophic earthquake,” he said.
He reassured that the government will continue efforts to ensure a disaster-resilient Pakistan. “We will take all possible measures to mitigate the impact of natural disasters,” Muqam added.
The minister praised national institutions and international partners for their role in rebuilding and recovery efforts. “Their support was invaluable in rebuilding affected areas,” he acknowledged.
Muqam expressed heartfelt condolences to families affected by the earthquake, which claimed thousands of lives and left many more injured.
