Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi Visits Three Key Institutions in London, Meets High ranking Officials
London, : Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi made a detailed visit of three key institutions in London, including the National Crime Agency, Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office, and National Situation Center. Interior Minister met with the Director General of National Crime Agency, James Babbage, and Director General of the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, Jonathan Allen. The Interior Minister was briefed on the functions of these institutions. Moreover, during the meetings, it was agreed to enhance cooperation in the fields of counter-terrorism, organized crime, and cybersecurity was also discussed during the meetings.
The Interior Minister appreciated the briefing and it was agreed to enhance cooperation in areas such as drug trafficking, cybercrime, illegal immigration and anti narcotics. Furthermore, Pakistani officers will be trained by the National Crime Agency in cybercrimes and anti-narcotics.
Interior Minister welcomed the UK’s cooperation in combating the challenge of cybercrimes. He stated that both countries needs to further strengthen the cooperation in the fight against drug trafficking. He highlighted that Pakistani nation have made huge sacrifices in the war against terroris and emphasized the need for adopting a common strategy to deal with the challenge of terrorism.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also visited the Cabinet Office, National Situation Center and was briefed regarding its functions. He showed keen interest in the working of National Situation Center. He said that he was please to visit State of the Art National Situation Center of UK adding that the importance of such center during a crisis cannot be denied. He expressed his interest in establishing a similar national Situation Center in Pakistan and sought the UK’s expertise in this regard. During the briefing, it was informed that in case of any crisis, this center plays a fully active role and the situation is monitored from there. Interior Minister appreciated the warm welcome extended to him and emphasized the importance of bilateral cooperation in ensuring the security of both countries.
Pakistan’s High Commissioner to the UK, Dr. Mohammad Faisal, British High Commissioner to Pakistan, Jane Marriott, and senior officials from the British Home Office were also present on the occasion.
